Hi everyone,
Happy January!
Before I talk about bookish things, I wanted to highlight that my friend and fellow author Maurene Goo is currently raising money to help rebuild wardrobes for women who have lost their homes and clothes due to the LA fires. You can find out more about Maurene’s efforts and how to help on Maurene’s Instagram page!
Altadena Girls Fire Recovery is a nonprofit that is raising money for teenagers affected by the Eaton Canyon fire. They are focusing on gathering clothes, personal items, and beauty and haircare items. And via Essence Magazine’s Instagram page, I also found this Go Fund Me directory for Black families that were affected by the LA fires.
If you are reading this newsletter and know of any organizations that are raising money/taking donations that you would like to highlight, please feel free to comment below with that information and I will share those organizations/fundraisers on my Instagram stories!
One of my goals for 2025 is to actually stick to the bi-monthly schedule for this newsletter, so we’ll see how this goes. Cross your fingers for me.
My first bookish update is that there is one final Goodreads giveaway happening for The Love Lyric! 25 people have a chance to win a finished copy.
The Love Lyric publishes in like two and a half weeks! There’s still time to preorder from Inkwood Books and receive an art print and bookmark. The last day to preorder from Inkwood and receive swag is January 28th.
If you’d like to preorder from other retailers, you can do so here!
I also want to give a reminder about the upcoming book tour. I’m so excited to see readers and these other amazing authors in person! Info for the event on February 4th in New Jersey at Inkwood Books can be found here. Registration is not required for this event!
The event in DC at East City on February 5th with Adriana Herrera and Ava Wilder is sold out of in person tickets, but virtual and waitlist tickets are still available. This event is for TLL and Adriana’s next book, A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke!
Tickets for the event on February 7th with Tia Williams at The Ripped Bodice in Brooklyn are still available! This event is for TLL and the paperback edition of Tia’s book, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde.
Tickets for the event on February 10th in St. Louis with Ali Hazelwood and B.K. Borison are still available as well! This is a Galentine’s event in celebration of TLL, Ali’s next book, Deep End and B.K.’s next book, First Time Caller.
Tickets for Love Y’all Fest February 14 - February 16 can be purchased here! (I’ll only be at Love Y’all that Friday and Saturday).
I’ve been reading the upcoming books by the authors I’m so excited to be in conversation with soon. I finished reading was Deep End last week (so good! —I also learned a lot about competitive diving). Last night I finished reading First Time Caller (also so good! very much gives Nora Ephron vibes). This morning I started A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke and I’m really loving it so far! Historical romance is my jam and my happy place. (I, of course, have already read Tia’s, Xio’s and Ava’s most recent books!)
Earlier this week I flew to Pittsburgh to celebrate the final book in Chloe Liese’s Wilmot Sisters series, Once Smitten, Twice Shy. I love this book and I love Chloe! It was so fun to talk about her book and her inspiration behind this Shakespeare reimagined series. Here’s a picture of us in front of White Whale Books’s neon whale. :)
I feel like I might have a cover to share for Heartsick soon. Not entirely sure about that lol, but once I know, you’ll be the first to hear about it here. :)
I hope you’re all taking care of yourselves.
xo, Kristina
